AMSR-E Sea Ice Concentration (15 MB)
This animation of sea ice concentration from 2005 through the near-present utilizes 12km resolution AMSR-E data acquired from the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC). AMSR-E is a passive microwave sensor located on NASA’s Aqua satellite. AOOS will continue to update this animation as new data becomes available.
Other AMSR-E sea ice concentration animations available from AOOS show Alaska and polar views over the past three months, one month, and two weeks, respectively.
