Items built by AOOS Data Management
The Data Management team maintains {manages, promotes, cultivates} the Data Warehouse. All materials are delivered where possible to meet IOOS Core Variables.
- Alaska Marine Information System (AMIS)
Provides the greatest number of options for obtaining data; web based delivery of Project information including data, metadata, abstracts, more. If you want to download data in a variety of formats, you will need the complexity and full access to the AOOS data warehouse that you can only get through the AMIS.
More about AMIS. Learn how to use AMIS.
Note: You may preview datasets without an account, but to download data you will need to sign up for a myAOOS account.
This tool helps project managers determine what data is available by region, person, agency, etc. NPRB helped support the development of this tool.
- Alaska Mapserver
Web based delivery of
GIS views of Alaska with optional layers. Choose to visualize Weather, Ocean Surface, Satellite, Forecast, Ocean Forecast, Bathymetry, Biological, Climate, and Oceonographic data.
Layers turn on on top of eachother; you may need to turn on/off several layers before you see the view which most interests you. Change your basemap and view (from Alaska to Polar.) Once you have your choice of layers and map you may zoom in to the data. A dynamic table at the bottom of the map shows you metadata and links for downloading data or learning more. base maps explained
IOOS
Catalog - program that drives web delivery of elements in our Data Warehouse arranged by IOOS Core Variables. Follow this link to have a dynamic list created of the contents of the database. Then choose one of the variables with with entries (signified by a number in parenthesis) and you are presented with a list of access points to raw data. This data may take several of the following forms: HTTP, DODS, HTML, DAS, DDX, INFO, ASCII, DODS.)
Latest Data
The
interface with the "Latest Data" feeds coming into the AOOS Data Management database. Preview data by Region or DataType. Data consumers can access a variety of materials like salinity, surface currents, wind direction and layer them to learn more about specific regions. Links directly to data sources and meta data are provided as well as download support. This is an easy tool to quickly gain perspective regarding what data is in the AOOS Data Warehouse.
- Your Pages
For a simplified view of select data sources choose Your pages. They are a collection of views that 'look into' the data warehouse in specific areas:
for Fishermen (Sea Surface Temperature, Chlorophyll images); Boaters & Harbormasters (webcams, weather forecasts, tide data, tide tables, more); Shellfish Growers (real-time water quality); Sea Ice data products and Marine watch for Cook Inlet (atmospheric winds, bathymetry, surface current and tides.)
