Data support for IOOS programs and Alaskan Stakeholders...

This is a collection of materials built for specific purposes; as projects come to a close we list them as examples of our work. See our active products.

AOOS assets

In response to an IOOS request, AOOS created a series of KML resources which clearly show where the AOOS assets are. See the list of KML files you can use within Google Earth.

Providing imagery

Often researchers (or PIs) need to 'see' data to determine whether or not it will meet their needs or the needs of their customers. AOOS, as a value-added service, provides imagery for select datasets. Learn more about AOOS generating images.

AOOS Data Management (DM) staff and researchers from UAF SFOS placed High Frequency radar stations close to Mt. Redoubt in Cook Inlet, an active volcano threatening an oil storage facility. AOOS DM programmed, collected data, added it to the database and made it available for others to use. After the set up was complete we created visualization tools for general viewing. The radar stations were active for several weeks, providing real-time surface current data to be used in oil spill trajectory models.
