contamination/particle motion animated gifExample Use of Data

Materials provided by Andrey Proshutinsky using 2D numerical model of Cook Inlet forced by tides only. Work supported by Minerals Management Service. (View report)

Each hour model releases a particle in the vicinity of the Drift River storage terminal; each particle trajectory is calculated for next 48 or 72 hrs. Trajectories gives an area of possible oil spill distribution.

See full size contamination/particle motion animated gif for Cook Inlet region; this is a large animation and will take a moment to load.
