Using Latest Data

  1. Select your region then
  2. select your data type (alternately select your data type and choose an area off of the resulting map.) Not all regions have all data types (and vice versa.)

Choose from: Alaska Peninsula, Aleutians, Arctic, Barrow, Bering Sea, Bering Strait, Chukchi Sea, Cook Inlet, Gulf of Alaska, Kodiak, Pribilof Islands, Prince William Sound, Southeast, Yakutat.

Understand that NOT all regions have all types of data.

Once you've selected your region and data type (or data type and then region) you will be presented with an image from our image archive.

Select collections are able to be animated.

To learn more about the data presented take a look at the description on the bottom of the resulting page (data descriptors) or view the actual Meta Data.

8 - 14 day precipitation image

  1. Several data types will have submenus to select from. Explore the data by choosing from the submenu and then WAITING for the server to deliver the real time (or stored) image to you.

  2. Results come back with links to more data including
  • image creation time
  • name of the data product
  • provider name and link to resource
  • latest data time stamp (how recent is this information? is it still be collected?)
  • data access
  • related data products
  • interactive GIS mapping tool - a link into this area of our interactive map
  • the time you ran your search

  1. Select region (Prince Wiliam Sound) - image 1 to right
  2. Select data product (Station Data)
  3. Choose station (mouse over came up with Seal Island as one of the choices) - it is the purple dot just above the pop-up below - image 2 below
  4. By clicking on the station you can learn more information
  5. see interactive page for details
    • note how the navigation on the left has changed to be specific to what you can do at this point including
      • get data

Seal Island menu choices allow you to see the graphs using the recent data (note the time/date on this data as it may be from prior years.) See the date stamp below for an example.
